Lillian Cerise, a sophomore at St. Mary’s Dominican High School, received the Carter Drake Goad Book Award for achieving three years of perfect scores on the National Latin Exam (NLE) for ascending tests (Latin 1-3). She was among 35 recipients of the prestigious award from a field of 142,271 students who took the National Latin Exams during a three-week testing period. Cerise is the daughter of Irene and John Cerise. The NLE, sponsored by the American Classical League and the National Junior Classical League, is a 40-question, multiple-choice test with a time limit of 45 minutes, offered to students on seven levels. In the United States, the exam was administered in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.
